Social media platforms are definitely one of the most powerful advertising tools in today’s world. Most entrepreneurs would rather choose to promote their business there. Two of the most popular social media platforms are Facebook and Instagram. We will focus this time on the second one.
You have two different ways to promote on this social media channel. The first one is to invest your money in ad campaigns. That will help you to reach your target audience in a much easier way. The second one is to hire an influencer that will promote your products/services on his or her profile.
People usually make a very common mistake because they are not well-informed. There are many profiles on this platform with a lot of likes and followers. But, this is not the indicator you should follow. For instance, imagine that every tall man in the world is marked as a basketball player. That doesn’t have any sense, correct?
Keep in mind that everything about these profiles/people is fake. That is the reason why I call them fakefluencers.
How to Identify Instagram Fakefluencers?
There are several different indicators that we will show you who has the true influence on society. More precisely, it will show you who exactly can really help you expand your business and make some extra profit.
Content
First thing you should check is the content of the profiles you would like to contact. The true influencers always strive to share something valuable with their followers. Their main priority is to share knowledge and not to get many likes and comments that will allow them to charge for advertising.
Fakefluencers mostly steal the content from other true influencers. However, that’s not the main problem. A big number of them usually share content that won’t bring value to the lives of other people. In some cases, their content is even inappropriate.
Likes and Followers
We already determined that the number of likes and followers is not the data you should look for. The profiles with 1000 followers can sometimes bring you better results than profiles with 100k followers.
You do not have to be a social media expert to determine who has fake likes and comments. The first thing you should do is check who is actually following the profiles of those people. The most of their followers do not have the profile picture and the number of their posts is 0
Besides that, check the number of their followers three days in a row. If the number grows rapidly without any good reason it is a good sign you should avoid contacting that person/profile. Fake likes and followers at not expensive at all. You can buy 1000 profiles or likes for less than a dollar. Every person on this planet can afford that.
P.S. Use the same process to discover fake likes.
Video Views
Buying views on YouTube is something that happens rarely. Yet, that is simply not possible on Instagram. Let’s say that our potential influencer has 30k followers. The number of views of his video should be at least half of that number after 24 hours. Yet, the true influencers usually reach to people that are not even following them. The true influencers with 30k followers should have approximately 50k views. Of course, this only counts if those profiles are not private.
Engagement Groups
Have you ever heard about engagement groups? I suppose your answer is “No”.
Instagram fakefluencers always connect through some other social media channels. They mostly make a group chat on Viber or Skype. The purpose of their connection is to boost the engagement of their profiles. Every fake influencer likes and comments each post of other fakefluencer.
It is not so difficult to notice them. They are usually not so creative, and their comments are usually “made of” two or three emojis. Besides that, they mostly tag them on posts that do not have anything in common with those profiles.
Activity on Other Social Media Platforms
True influencers never limit their influence on one social media. Gary Vee, one of the most popular motivational speakers and entrepreneurs in the US, is the best possible example I know. He posts a new video and textual content on a daily basis, and he does that on absolutely every SM channel.
The reason why he does that is simple. He knows that his audience is using different platforms. If your potential influencer is limited only on Instagram, then something is definitely wrong there.
Useful Tools
There are many useful tools that could help you identify fake influencers. My suggestion is to use Instagram Engagement Calculator Phlanx, and NapoleonCat. Each app could be found on both, Apply and Play store.
Still, keep in mind that those same people with fake influence also know about these tools. You can only use them if their profiles are “public”, and that’s why most of their profiles are “private”.
